I’m Charlotte Shimko.

I’m from Florida but I currently live outside of Seattle, WA with my husband and three large dogs.

I’ve worked in technology for the last couple of decades, most recently I was the Director of Program Management for a SaaS company. I oversaw the professional services in the US for Contract Management Software implementations. Sound fun?? It was. But then I had a bit of a tough year.

Early 2019, I lost two brothers within 3 weeks of each other. I was devastated. Then I lost an aunt and two close running friends. Sigh. 2020 has to be better, right? My Grandmother died Jan 2020. I needed a break and decided to take one. At the end of Jan 2020 I quit my job and had no plans other than to relax. I interviewed for a couple of things, but nothing was exciting me. What’s a girl to do?? It is said that you should do what you love and I love nothing more than being a recluse and reading a good book!! It is said that you should do what you love… so what can I do with books?? And here I am.

I want to become a writer but I have degrees in Microbiology and Business… I know nothing about writing. Look what I’m doing right now though, writing. I figure a blog would be good practice for writing. I decided to write about what I love. Books. I read. ALOT. I mean ALOT, ALOT. I read 10-15 books per month. All different kings. This blog will cover me learning to write, finding a class, daily creative prompts I choose, etc. It’ll also cover what I’m reading, what I’ve read and what excites me about books. I’ll provide links to videos where I review some of what I read and open any books I receive.
